The ara- phenotype results from a deletion of most of the araBAD operon.
Host strain (ara-) for use with the pBAD series of expression vectors.
Phenotype(s) confirmed: gal-, ara-, strR.
Lack of arabinose metabolism in this strain results in slower repression of expression for pBAD vectors, but also
gives a linear induction response (directly related to arabinose concentrations) when low concentrations of
inducer are used.
Medium: Nutrient agar or broth with 20 mcg/ml streptomycin
