KOPM-88 is a cell line derived from an 11-year-old patient with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). It is characterized by a partial tandem duplication of the MLL gene, which is a common genetic abnormality in AML. KOPM-88 cells are sensitive to inhibition of DOT1L, a histone methyltransferase that is important for the development of MLL-rearranged leukemias. This makes KOPM-88 a valuable tool for studying the role of DOT1L in AML and for developing new treatments for this disease.
