BioVector? GV369-GFP is a plasmid that contains a hypoxia-responsive element (HRE) fused to a green fluorescent protein (GFP) reporter gene. This plasmid is used to study the regulation of gene expression in response to hypoxia, or low oxygen conditions.
When cells are exposed to hypoxia, the HRE binds to a transcription factor called HIF-1 (hypoxia-inducible factor 1). This binding activates the transcription of the GFP gene, resulting in the production of GFP protein. The GFP protein fluoresces green, making it possible to visualize cells that are experiencing hypoxia.
GV369-GFP is a valuable tool for studying the effects of hypoxia on various cellular processes, including cell proliferation, differentiation, and survival. It can also be used to identify cells that are at risk of hypoxia-induced damage, such as in the context of ischemia or tumor growth.
